Manchester Local Care Organisation - Neuroinclusion

The Challenge

As part of their commitment to inclusion, Manchester and Trafford LCO recognised a need to improve understanding and awareness of neurodiversity across their management population. Managers required more insight into neurodivergence, as well as guidance on communication, reasonable adjustments, support and legislative responsibilities.

Our Solution

We designed and delivered experiential workshops for over 80 managers. Led by neurodiversity expert, sessions included acted video vignettes, breakout discussions, polls, and collaborative exercises. The goal was to equip managers with real-world insight and tools they could immediately apply.

A real eye-opener — I’ve got so many new ideas to take back to my team
Great blend of practical tips, insight, and lived experience
This should be mandatory for every manager

The Impact…
  • 100% of participants said they gained new awareness and tools to support neurodivergent colleagues
  • Confidence in neuroinclusive practice rose from 37% to over 90%.
  • All attendees felt inspired to make positive changes in their work environments.

Practical Takeaways

After the sessions, managers committed to a number of practical actions to take forward back in the workplace. These included:

  • Improving their communication styles and be more flexible.
  • Introduce and explore reasonable adjustments with team members.
  • Reflect on assumptions, behaviours, and inclusive leadership practice.

I thought the sessions was delivered by an excellent facilitator, held the space well, created an environment that felt safe, warm and reassuring (no mean feat virtually), displayed deep expertise and passion for the topics and I am confident that others got a lot from it too.  The stories used in the videos were impactful and felt like people could resonate and identify with elements of them.   The quality of acting was exceptional. Sometimes, particularly recorded vignettes, can feel a little cringey and I think that is often down to how it’s done and the acting. The quality of the actors you work with is something that I believe marks Enact out as different
