Unconscious Bias: Huddersfield

Showcasing awareness-raising training on unconscious bias

What’s it all about?

We’re very pleased to announce that this November we’ll be showcasing a 3 hour version of our powerfully effective Unconscious Bias workshop. Our innovative, eye-opening Unconscious Bias training has been successfully delivered in a wide range of organisations across the public and private sector. Along the way, we’ve enabled 100s of delegates to learn more about their own biases, where they come from, why they exist, and the kinds of impact they have on everyone’s behaviour.

We’re immensely proud of this training (positively giddy, really). As part of a wider programme, we’re in no doubt that the insights it provides represent an invaluable step on the way to a more inclusive workplace.

A drama based workshop (where you don’t have to act)

Our tried and tested approach utilises a dynamic blend of multimedia filmed resources, electronic voting systems (measuring success), and highly skilled facilitation. It’s a highly interactive, powerful way to explore behaviours and raise awareness of personal bias, one which will be of interest to anyone within Human Resources or Learning & Development roles, whatever the sector.

Learning and development

With carefully scripted scenarios and activities, our facilitator will demonstrate in this innovative and engaging showcase just how our training enables delegates to examine, in a safe and supportive environment, realistic examples where bad practice and its consequences can be highlighted and explored.

Delegates learn:

  • How unconscious bias affects our judgements, when dealing with customers, in recruitment, line management, and elsewhere; and
  • How to start to put this crucial learning into practice.

In their own words

Some examples of what delegates say:

“Fantastic facilitator. Great knowledge and style of delivery.”

“Enjoyed the session, took a lot from it and much more aware of my unconscious bias.”

“Excellent delivery – really enjoyed the level of interaction and debate.”

“Knowledgeable facilitator who was able to give a great deal of information to the group.”

“Style and delivery was 1st class. Content was very good and length of session ideal.”

“The course consistently kept me interested and feel that I will be able to use the learning in my work and personal life.”

It’s free. But don’t hang about as places are limited and will be booked on a first come, first served basis. (Please note, due to demand and administration costs, there will be a £99 plus VAT charge for cancellations received less than 48 hours prior to the event.)

The event will run from 9.30am till 12.30pm (refreshments and registration from 9.15am) on 13 November 2015 in Seminar Room 2 at the Textile Centre of Excellence, Textile House, Red Doles Lane, Huddersfield, HD2 1YF.

It goes without saying, we’d be delighted to see you there.
